早在1819年,德國化學家Friedrich Ferdinand Runge便已經萃取出咖啡因這種讓咖啡具有興奮作用的天然生物鹼。然而,一直要等到1981年,美國神經生物學家Solomon Snyder才真正掌握了咖啡因的機制。咖啡因會擾亂腺苷(adenosine)的行動。腺苷是腦中負責傳遞睡眠訊息的化學物質,其數量多寡會反應出我們的疲倦程度。一整天下來,若我們消耗的能量越多,就會因為腺苷三磷酸(註一)的減少而產生越多的腺苷。它會影響腦中一種名為A2A的接收器,讓某些維持腦袋清醒的神經元停止活動。...(詳全文)
